Deeb

A new way of finding & hiring temporary jobs

The job market is unfitted to today’s dynamic and changing world. The Z generation employees demand flexibility, extensive choices and freedom in the employment realm. Deeb is looking to answer those demands and enable employees to work whenever, and wherever, they want.

The challenge

Turning a long physical experience into a quick digital one. Although people search for jobs online, they have to show up for interviews, phone calls and more. The thing we had to figure out was how to teach employers to trust candidates they haven’t seen before, and how to communicate to employees that it is so easy to find a job.

The solution

A Mobile app for job seekers (referred to as Deebers) and a web app for the employers, providing a full cycle - from uploading a new job, searching for a match, sending a request, and approving it!

The research

The users

What do they look for in a job?

One of the first things we tried to understand about our target audience (16-24) was ‘what is most important when looking for work?’ According to interviews, we saw that flexibility, and a good atmosphere at work are the two top issues. This realization affected the way we designed the entire product.

Market research

We examined ways that young people look for work. We’ve noticed that in addition to using specific products for job searching (which are our direct competitors), there is a lot of use of social networks such as Facebook. We tried to understand what works there so well.

Research conclusion

4 main conclusions emerged from our research

Intuitive

We need to create a joyful experience. Our target audience is young and used to quick & text-free apps.

The ‘Wolt’ of jobs

Deeb should be THE place to look for jobs. We will create our own Deeb language and terms as part of our branding.

Community

Users (employees and employers), should be able to rate each other, earn badges and share jobs - thus, creating a sense of community and trust

Be your own boss

Users want to work without the feeling of commitment.

Ideation

Concept 1 - "Tinder"

Focusing on the most relevant options. Less job choices but more focusing on choosing something.

Concept 2 - "Map & list"

I created an accurate, personalized search, by using specific filters and switching from map view to list view (allowing the user to choose the more convenient way).

User flow

The MVP includes 2 solutions - a mobile app for employees, and a web platform for employers

The user flow refers to a full cycle from the moment a job is posted by the employer, the employee's job request, and after a job is done - the employee's rating by the employer. The color distribution helped us understand what parts the user sees in the UI, what is sent via email, and what happens in the backend.

Employees app

Onboarding - full cycle flow

It is important to explain to users about the new experience they are going to experience, and emphasize that in the end they are going to find work.

Job search

A marketplace of jobs that the user can choose from

Applying for a job

Once the user has found a job he likes, he must apply, and within 24 hours receive an answer, if it is positive - all he has left is to go to work!

User profile

How can the employees be trusted?

The employee's profile contains a large image, badges based on experience, and rankings. The more you complete the profile, the more inviting it will be and the chances of being hired will increase.

Employers platform

My jobs

The main screen of the system consists of a timeline with all the jobs that the employer has uploaded. The status of each position is shown by how many employees were hired.

Approve candidates

Convenient system for viewing applications, option for viewing the employee's profile, and approval of job candidates.

Rating employees

For creating community of workers that can be trusted

This feature is very important for the app. Trust in employees is the heart of the product, and can be easily achieved by the wisdom of the masses.

What have I learned?

Educating users

When educating our users about an experience that is new to them, it is important to constantly check and make sure the new experience is understood and accepted.

Communication with dev

Constant communication with the development team is key. With every new feature I design, understanding the developmental significance and whether it meets the schedules and budget are crucial.

My job definition can be fluid

In this project, I pushed the limits of the definition of my position, and it was worth it. I was not only in charge of the UX/UI processes but was also in charge of brand characterization, copywriting, and illustrating.
